Hi Lear, Ive had some horrors over the 56 years ive been driving, gooduns like the tr4a and a tr 6 with mechanical injection ( 8 mpg till fixed ) vitesse 2ltr convertible, mini cooper 997, Dolomite, all of which were great fun to drive and repair. the worst of the horrors were vivas, astras, cortinas, and escorts. current run around is a focus tdci which has been a money pit cos it eats turbos. lol. learnt on a austin 16 in a field at age 12. Now its suggested over 70s should be banned from driving outside their local area or after dark!!!! glad of the memories of carefree motoring at least.

Yeah I've always made that a habit... doesn't work any more though, so I think in this case there's more to it than that

Years ago I had some brake shoes that seemed to attract water.-I found with those that they could make the drums rust up overnight.---It was from around those days I began to park in gear, only if the ground was flat. I still do this right up to to today and at the moment my car is parked beside my house in second gear.

And of course you know what I'm going to say... I have a sloped driveway

Not VERY sloped, mind you - I'm sure the compression would hold it.

As usual, I'll do nothing, and think about it for a few months
