Only 7 more days to go until 2nd jab. Does not really seem like 11 weeks ago that I had my first jab.

Had my second dose on May 1st and everyone - including those getting their jab - was in good spirits with plenty of banter going on. I got chatting to the young woman who was taking care of the queue waiting to go in and discovered that she's a full time NHS nurse who volunteers to help out at the vaccination centre during her time off. These people deserve the highest praise for what they're doing and my respect for them is off the scale.

Huge questions now over the decision to allow dozens and dozens of flights to land in the UK from India, with no hotel quarantine, for almost a month after this variant was identified there.

Simple decision in my opinion the answer is NO don't let any flights or people from India into GB but do the government or Boris have the back bone to make that decision all this opening up freely is not going to end well at all. PS second jab for me on the 19th May

Get a grip for the sake of our children’s future we cannot sacrifice anymore.
Those that want to hide for the rest of their lives get on with it. Others get on and enjoy life as there’s no getting out alive. I have a fine strapping 27 year old at home that cannot find any work, and is on the verge of a breakdown, is on medication and with absolutely no mental health support it is painful watching every day his deterioration. He had a job with the council digging graves/cutting grass etc, but that was the 1st thing to go last year. Perspective; India 1.38 Billion 10,000 cases/day UK 55mn 2,000/day. Applying 25x ratio UK to India population would mean UK has equivalent 50,000 cases/day. All assuming of course the accuracy of the testing which can vary widely. |

There’s only one thing that spreads faster and further than a virus. That is the panic inducing fear factor given the impetus of antisocial media. When that is used, in the wider sense, nothing is beyond the pale and pygmies, in the narrower sense, are let loose on a gullible public.
Musn’t for one moment consider an embargo on all travel anywhere when presented with something apparently equal to the Black Death and absolutely guaranteed to decimate innocent people and bankrupt millions. Heaven forbid the sacred tenets of presumed racism to be wrongly applied, thereby leading to open borders. We musn’t risk offending anybody, whatever the outcome. Now we have the reported setting up of door-stepping squads of Vax support workers being used to impress on those who dodged the column and their civic duty to get jabbed (today’s Mail) that they should do it, do it nooww. Does anybody have the independently confirmed actual deaths from Flu for 2020/19/18/17?
