I had to reduce the pic sizes to be able to upload them to here.

The need for knowing how to cut rafters has gone but the wanting to know and have a go remains.
The need was having an asbestos roof removed professionally and then building a new roof. I wanted to build the roof but plans have changed.
Perhaps my daughter and her husband will see sense and want a garden shed, man cave, summer house built. I will then have a need again.
I also saw a video on stair cases, that was interesting.

May be in time a more ambitious project will be to alter a "barn" roof. I would need an architect to draw plans for me. Pity you two are so far away I could use the expertise

If you really want to learn then a school book on geometry would help you a lot.--- Basic roofs are simple geometry.---
