Damn! Missing key transponder
Hello,
Went to use the spare key today and car wouldn't start. Opened up the fob and the transponder is missing. Seeing as I'm in Spain with access to a nice man with a t4 what are my options ( if any ) to get my hands on a replacement? Cheers Dave Edit...that should read NO access to a nice man... Either that or it's ordering a full key from BMW for £220 It's at this point you find that cheap replacement key cases don't secure the transponder, as they don't have the securing lugs cast in........Blu Tac, or hot melt glue is your friend for the future Brian |

Just out of interest how has the transponder disappeared due to a possible cheap casing?
Surely it would still be rattling around in the case even if not secured well by lack of lugs or are we saying that the plastic key case came apart and it dropped out? |

Slightly off topic but when I changed over to a £2.50 ebay fob I was able to keep the old Valeo back casing, thus keeping the transponder in place as I really didn't want to risk damaging it whilst trying to remove it.
Typically it's the front buttons that fail/break and hence the need for a new fob, backs tend to be fine just a bit old and faded...bit like me really. So effectively replaced the front only. Does that make it a new fob? Triggers broom |

No idea....I've not changed this one over to a new case. This is an original veleo case just hasn't got the transponder in it.
