I quite like a decent, heavyweight red wine - Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon or similar. Problem is that no-one else in the house likes it, so if I open a bottle I either have to drink the whole bottle, or end up chucking some away

Afternoon Stu
I seem to remember (I think!) - four bottles of Bulmers between 8.00pm and 9.00pm whilst playing snooker. We then stopped playing snooker as someone appeared to have sneaked an extra 15 reds onto the table (or that's what I could see) - sat down and discussed matters of state until about 11.45pm (lost track of how many more bottles!) and then wended our way home via helpful wives with car.
I did manage to win a bottle of Gordons Gin on the raffle - so my £10 investment was returned with a couple of quids of interest
No photos I'm afraid (sorry Jeff!) - took my camera and discovered there were no batteries in it when I got there - and I don't take my mobile to the club 'cos it's a mobile 'phone blackspot - absolutely no signal whatsoever (which nis actually quite a good idea when you think about it!).

Think I might now be interested in a couple of slices of toast and a cup of coffee.

My cousin who lives somewhere in London gets wine from a supermarket/cash & carry for £2.00 a bottle, won't say where. He brought some up to the family lunch during the week, I took two 6 bottle cases off him, one red, one white, haven't tried it yet but he says it's good and I know he brings some up now and then for a hotel another cousin of ours owns!

As for going up into Edinburgh . . . . couldn't be bothered with it, taxi or bus to get up there in the first place, pay to get into some club that sells you overpriced drink then factor in close to £30 for a taxi home . . . . nah, no thanks :Santa5:

I'll second that.
The pubs near me are all owned by gangsters so their cronies frequent them , not my idea of company , I prefer a can at home or a wee cheeky shiraz.

Well whilst we're on the subject of food and drink ( who'd have thought it on here ) I took a few photos from the Haywain this afternoon.
Ros and I had our Christmas dinner there today

Thanks George, thanks Phil,
Apologies for photo quality as they're only iPhone snaps!
Had a lovely dinner in our favourite pub 'The Haywain' which if your ever this way is in the village of Little Bromley in Essex near the Port of Harwich.

I see you had the low calorie lunch then Jeff :xmas-smiley-004:
Looks superb - I'm drooling

We decided against the usual Sunday lunch today in view of SWMBO being under the weather - and me not being on top of the weather 'til this afternoon - so just had what used to be called a Spanish Omelette - which in our house means an omelette with anything you can find in the fridge thrown in - peppers, celery, ham, bacon, mushrooms - very tasty :xmas-smiley-004:

PS Those Yorkshire Puddings look like real ones - not pale imitations. You know you're supposed to eat them on their own, with gravy, as a starter don't you?
