I’ve got to say a massive thank you to Brian. So that I can try and get the car back together tomorrow he arranged to meet me half way between my house and his as he had some bushes he hadn’t fit yet. We don’t live close either, 2 hours round trip for both of us! In your debt again, anytime you need an extra pair of hands you know where I am

Feels like a long day today, proceeded with the rear suspension arm repair. Spent a while trying to get the rose jointed bush out but it was having none of it. Ended up cutting through the bolt to get the arm out of the way then ‘forcibly’ removing the rose joint to be able to use the extraction tool to remove the body. Cleaned everything up and refitted the new bush with a mixture of the tool and a spacer from a bearing installer I have. The other side pressed out easily and had the new bush fitted quite quickly. Time was pressing on so last job was to clean the inner subframe bolts, grease and fit to ensure the threads were clean. Passengers side was fine but the drivers didn’t feel right, on closer inspection the captive nut is moving slightly. I. Guessing it’s held with two spot welds and one has give way. Not sure if it will hold to be tightened as I think it’s about 100 NM? (T4 on charge with RAVE installed) Next thought is fit the arm and tighten to see if it holds or just remove the subframe. I’ve no access to a welder so I could probably add a nut but I’m guessing it should be finally tightened with weight on which would be impossible once the subframe is fitted. Supposed to be fun this!

I can't see from the first picture whether or not you managed to get the bolt out of the bush, or if you drifted the entire centre out......at least installing the new bushes would have been easy enough with the Frabtel Rosejointbushomatic 3000 (TM) If nothing else, your tourer will feel an awful lot tighter at the back end as a result of today's work Nice one Brian |

The Rose joint section that has been cut in the photo still has the bolt inside Can you remember the torque setting of the inner bolt off the top of your head?

Managed to get a bit more done between jobs. Both arms fitted and all torqued up. Rear brakes built back up so I just need to fit the coil springs and new anti roll bar links. Just Been to Halfords for some hamerite to paint the arms before fitting the springs as one arm was chipped in a few places when unwrapped. Getting closer.
