Key coding and second hand keys
Can a key be re-coded if you have the matching barcode?
The reason I ask is there have been a number of USED keys on eBay recently with barcodes attached. This one went for £46 + p&p http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=270361648335 I contacted the seller and they stated that yes it has previously been coded to a car. Either it was a good deal and re-usable or a £46 piece of scrap.

Good question? I would think yes but I'm not 100% certain as I have never tried it! Although I do have 2 new keys with barcodes that have been cut. I was going to swap blades and try and programme as spares but never got round to it. If you want one to try and get coded before you buy one let me know. It would certainly be cheaper than the ebay one

The car is coded to the key, so if you have the barcode, then yes, the 'plipper' can be used.
Dunno what you'll do about the blade though.

While on key and fob issue, my spare key has a broken open button. No response when I press open. Used to work fine for ages. Can the button be fixed easily ??

hi guys, just wondering if anyone has managed to turn a standard central locking system in to a 3 button type, in order to have remote boot release? i know this wouldnt be a simple upgrade but i am curious to weither it can be done without changing the complete alarm system. does anybody know if the standard interface has the capability for add ons and if so could you purchase a later 3 button fob and re-program it to your car, change the immobolizer chip, and then alter the wiring to the solenoid in the boot. its a long shot i know but wanted to know if its possible? i hope i havent gone to off topic, but if i have then my appologies. (im a newby )
thanks guys nick |
