Just top up at ASDA the cheapest and save your cash for a bag of chips ,the only place to use better diesel is spain as the gasoleo is NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- and not clean.

I recorded my mpg over a period of time - have a look

I experimented with STP in the tank, normal Shell diesel, supermarket diesel etc. but remember the famous saying - "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics"

I reckon it was worth a few more miles - but not many, and round here, there is a substantial price difference between the Nitroplus or whatever they call it, and the bog standard diesel

I usually put the premium Diesel in my Transit van and on the odd occasion it has not been available I will say I have noticed the difference but mainly on hills when it is loaded.

As far as MPG goes I find it only makes a marginal difference and probably not worth the extra but I am hoping the long term benefit will pay off with longer life of the injectors and pump but I wont know that until they need replacing.

BP claim it only makes a difference if you used all the time so probably a strategy to get you to use it.

I suppose it comes down to how much annual mileage you do, if you do 25k a year the extra cost makes a big difference but if you only do 10k or less probably not worth worrying about the extra as it is only 50p a week.

I tried the Shell superdooper expensive diesel, no difference whatsoever in power or mpg. A bottle of injector cleaner does improve performance and contribute to a smoother drive though.

My vote is with HEDDY above.-------

Not worth worrying about. Just fill it at the most convenient place and drive it.

I have now left my mpg recorder to do its own thing for over 3 years now and it is currently reading 49.7 mpg.

How accurate this is I don't know. Are the car electronics are to be relied on.---???

As can be seen on the MPG thread my car's display says 44.1 where the actual brim to brim value is a rather nice 50.27mpg

Did not see it as a naughty word as it means something useless .it is a less vulgar replacement for another term .You could put holy before it and tht is a left over from earlier , more religious times . It is also a game called seven out .One of the most commonly used words in the dictionary .
I rest my case .

I used to put a tank in my 2.2 mondeo every now and again but never noticed any difference. I haven't bothered with the agricultural terrano I've got now.

BUT, I once owned a 2.0 Mazda 6 (2007 147 tune) and that made a HUGE difference. It was like a light switch. It never got very good economy for a manual diesel (low 40's) but as soon as vpower was put in it gained around 6 mpg. As soon as normal diesel put back in it went back to low 40's. Not had another car like it since and I've had a few diesels since!

In my cdti if I use the better stuff I get an average 2 mpg & seems to start easier. Supermarket fuel is cheaper because it is cheaper fuel, not as good.
