Sill rust
My 75 is showing signs of rusting along the rear driver side sill, with the rusty colour showing through the paint for a few inches each side of the jacking point. I have not poked it to determine the extent but clearly it must be addressed, which I imagine will need welding and then new paint
Any recommendations for where to get this done to a good standard in my area? I live in Southend.

Not in your area, but if you want the best job, you need to get your car to this Man.

Any garage should be competent in welding a plate across there, it is a well documented problem, and is a MOT failure if it is to bad. Rev |

You really don't want nasty plates putting on. Tom Hobbs did my white one, and he makes the new panel and cuts it in perfectly. £200 for both sides. I'd post photos, but I am on my phone. There is a train station at Ilkeston very close to Tom I it helps.

75
I would get it done ASAP the 75 I bought recently had the same thing and left a year after it was originally noticed and ended up with a 30cm section being cut out. I can recommend wheelbase in burgess Hill West Sussex excellent job they did

Looking to have my sills welded properly later in the year and mulling it over if it would be worth the 2 1/2 hour drive for the peace of mind of a quality repair by Tom. I can't seem to get any recommendations of a similar quality up here in the North East . The drive is not an issue but i'd have to drive down catch a train back and return by train which could get expensive and is he able to stonechip and paint the finished repair ? Just thinking out loud for the moment !

He does treat all the insides and all his new metalwork before priming.
