Default Mk4 dvd

Recently bought a unit from fleebay , don’t think it seems to be working. When I connect the unit , the widescreen goes blank , radio still works . The red light in the dvd flashes for few seconds and go on constant. It can eject the sat nav disc with out any issues. Set up I have is widescreen , hybrid tv module, bm54 . Just want to know whether the unit is gubbed or the sat nav disc ( 2004 maps )

The MK4 will work with the MK3 map CD. It will work without the disc, it’ll just say “Insert CD” and then boot to the usual menu with the navigation option greyed out.

When I disconnect it the screen goes grey , don’t show any options. The screen eventually comes on after few hours

hello Atcchus
you need to check the k bus white/red/yellow cable there must be a break in this cable take the head unit out and you need to check this cable more than likely there is break or water in the header under the carpet on the drivers side

Default Mk4 dvd sat nav

Hi
I am sure answered somewhere but cannot find it. Is the Mk4 dvd sat nav plug and play with my original high line screen?
Also if I do change the screen to the widescreen BMW unit is this plug and play also?

The BMW unit is a plug and play (after trimming a couple of lugs off) but to get the benefit you also need the widescreen TV module from a BMW as well - if you can get hybrid tuner this gives the option of digital TV channels.
