VIS tester
I read that a VIS tester is available to members but I think the post date was 2016. Is this service still available?
I have only just bought my ZTT V6 and the previous owner did 4,000 miles in last 5 years going 2 miles to the golf club so I doubt if the engine every got to 3000 rpm. I guess my VIS’s are not working as I cannot detect the power surge but as I am very new to the car am not sure what I should be feeling. What I do know is I am impressed with the car. A low mileage Goodwood Green Auto tourer. I have even got the high line Sat Nav working without draining the battery. The PO had disconnected it for that reason. I think the main problem with battery drain lies with the state of the battery. I suspect the circuit that switches it off is very voltage sensitive. I have a new battery and it works fine with the unit switching off after 55 seconds from power down. Would appreciate info on the VIS tester. Thanks |

You could always test them yourself with the free programme Toaf (use the search). You only need the programme, a cheap usb VW KKL lead and a Windows computer. Not only useful for VIS, but for checking the fans, enabling one touch locking, speedlocking and lots of other things. Think of it as a Rover 75 diagnostic computer.

Hi. What is TOAF? Will try and find it. Plugging in my OBD 2 shows nothing but I think the parameters on the OBD system is pretty limited????

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OBD2-II-O...gAAOSw~pNgHloc I'd love to modify the locking on the V8 if it can be used for that? Last edited by edwardmk; 25th March 2021 at 09:47.. Reason: added omitted words |

Daft question time. What does the VIS tester look like? The reason I ask is that when I took over the shop from Actros there was a few strange items included in the stock to which I have no idea what they are.

Trikey can relax, Toaf doesn't even list the V8 engine in its options, only diesel, V6 and 1.8. Regards |

My ebay one is slightly different but has the same two leads, a switch, a red button to press and a LED. Regards |
