Thanks to Trikey I had a much better idea of what the problem with Mo might be. Crank position sensor and hole may need cleaning.
5 minute job, I thought. Might have a problem with the bolt, I thought. After waiting a while to get Mo back outside my house I set to it. Bolt off dead easy, good start. Couldn't pull the sensor out. Tried a few times over a few weeks, but it wouldn't budge. So last weekend I admitted defeat and arranged for the garage to do it. That happened today. They said they had a hard job getting it out too, but finally managed to prise it off. Cleaned up, replaced. £54 including tax That's one hours labour nowadays. I might come out of retirement Anyway the drive back felt very smooth so hopefully it has solved the lurching problem. When we can make unnecessary journeys again I'll take her for a run, just to make sure.

Gave it a service, oh and fitted another clutch.
Slave was leaking so replaced everything along with a good used DMF as the original was a bit worn after 411000 miles. Clutch plate only had 2mm of wear so not bad for 110000 miles since it went in - it was only a cheapie from National. Last time round I fitted a LUK slave but went for a Borg and Beck clutch kit this time. . Last edited by Mike Noc; 27th March 2021 at 07:59.. |

Cleared the dust out of the Bear's s/c with a quick burst up the road. Might need to get some more petrol soon.

Collected another 2 boot-fulls of earth (we've built new raised beds for growing veg. They've taken about 5 tons, thankfully now complete) glad she's got good springs.
Hoovered the boot! Checked the coolant after fitting a new cap mid-week. Perfect :¬) And watched the mileage click over to 111,111

Question for nonzamo999
The previous owner of my ZTT had sunroof problems in Cornwall and took it to a garage in Padstow. The garage untangled it and took the sun blind off. The PO left it at the garage and could not be bothered to have it sent on. He cannot even remember what garage it was!
So what did I do with my ZTT today? I worked out why the sunroof did not work. Reason: the actual motor part of the motor unit is gone.😂 So, nonzamo, next time you are getting petrol in Padstow ask them if they have a grey sun roof blind. Bottle of my finest from the. cellar would be sent in recognition of valiant service to the ZT community. PS I do have quite a good cellar and if you have a 2000 car, that would be appropriate and an excellent vintage 😁😁 |
