Default Stopping at roundabouts.

Why do (Some) folks insist on stopping on roundabouts when there is NOTHING is coming?

It infuriates me..

Negotiating a roundabout, you are busy looking ahead, left right and centre and to the rear and to the right, then you get some plonker who just sits there.

WHY oh why do they do this?

Localised blindness or just carelessness?

Personally i would never dream of stopping at a roundabout if the road ahead was clear and nothing was coming.!

Equally annoying are those who turn out rightwards before they actually turn left!

Worse still are the drivers who accelerate on approaching round a bouts, especially when light controlled.

The fact that some will stop at a roundabout is down to their training and confidence. As the following vehicle, you actually have more responsibility. Never assume that the driver in front, drives as you do.

The "swingers", those who move in the opposite direction before completing a turn, are very dangerous, and they don't realize.

One thing I constantly observe a large percentage of drivers do - approach a junction (including roundabouts) looking straight ahead only. Only once stopped do they look left and right. Of course there's a slightly smaller percentage that just don't bother stopping - sometimes this group looks.

It’s those that stop 6inches from the rear of my car that get me

Like the “two second rule” - it seems that “Tyres on Tarmac” is no longer taught when training people to drive.

I'm always wary of vehicles joining off a slip road. Seem to think they have a divine right and its up to traffic to let them in rather than adjusting their speed to slot into a gap. Saw one a while ago, car coming off the slip road smack into the side of a car on the dual carriageway.

You should see the roundabouts on the new Norwich North Circular. To say they are badly lit is an understatement. And the approach signs are p*ss poor and the exit roads are on top of each other and also confusingly signed.
On a route I have used for 35 years before the new lay out I have since ended up going off on the wrong turning more than once
The amount of accidents that have occurred on these since they were put up is beyond belief. You just don't know they are there until you are on top of one, quite literally
It doesn't matter what lane you are in everyone is lightly to end up in a pile of scraped metal.
What where the highway planners thinking of???!!!

A couple of weeks ago I got stuck behind a C4 that would top out at 40 & take an age to get there. The worse thing though, was their understanding of roundabouts.
They would approach it indicating right, but hog both lanes then go straight over! Not once, but 3 times in succession. The first time caught me out & I nearly lost my side, but I hung back for the next 2 roundabouts.
