engine oil CDT
Quick question, I noticed that the Shop put in 5w30 oil (which is what I use) , However I see that he used the ACEA C3 spec instead of A3/B4
Is the C3 also good or should I go back? Last edited by roverbeast75; 22nd April 2021 at 15:31.. |

I believe the ACEA C3 spec requires a fully synthetic type to pass. The MGR specs for engine oil are set out in the Handbook as shown below.
However, using a fully synthetic type with a performance spec exceeding the original isn't going to do any harm. Basically, you're using a more expensive oil than necessary but lots of owners do so now. I think the feel good factor is the main driver, but there's nowt wrong with that. TC |

ACEA C3 is a mid to low saps oil aimed at diesels fitted with DPF (diesel particulate filter) and long life servicing. It is absolutely fine to use in your CDT. Cheers, Guy |
