Morning Skipper, I hope Ros and yourself have an enjoyable day. Is a Sunday roast on the menu?

We are going Italian with Pizza, garlic and herb ciabatta and pasta in the fridge ready for lunch After breakfast and doing a few jobs we shall slip our moorings and probably take the boat up the River Ant to Barton Broad

Hi Jeff, this thread is a really good read, and nicely illustrated too. Everything went so smoothly for you, like pieces of a giant jigsaw puzzle falling into place. Well done both of you.
Here's hoping you and your good lady have many pleasurable years to look forward to on the water.

Ho Hum......back home
We developed a bit of alternator belt squeal on our trip out today. So we cut short our run and didn't go as far as Barton Broad. Turned round at Ludham Bridge and made our way back to Acle. Will be back to the boat in a fortnight where I (with help of a friend) will be replacing the alternator belt. It probably just needs tightening but might as well replace it to be on the safe side as it also runs the freshwater cooling pump......we don't want that to fail thats for sure Apart from the little glitch it was great to be on board and we did get to fill the onboard water tank for the first time today.....It's been drained since we bought the boat to avoid frost. Today we filled it and added non toxic anti freeze just in case. We are not going to be using it for drinking but will be used for kitchen sink, shower etc. The marvels of hot and cold running pressurised water was ours to enjoy

The good news is Storm Doris didn't cause any damage to our boat or any others at Acle Marina yesterday.
There is a great bunch of people there looking out for one another and reporting back to those not able to check that their boats are okay and ropes all tied up properly Lots of reports from elsewhere on the Broads of damaged boats and property sadly. I hope those affected can get any damage sorted quickly and fingers crossed no more storms like that one anytime soon

Off to the boat on wednesday as I've got to replace the alternator/water pump V belt which is slipping and caused us to cut short our day on the water last week.
It had a new belt in it's service schedule last year but unbeknown to me it has to be adjusted after six hours use which as it changed hands (to us) wasn't carried out. It probably just needs tightening but as a precaution I have bought a new one plus a spare to keep on board......Just in case. Apparently to gain access to the belt you have to remove the companionway steps from the cockpit to the cabin as there isn't room to reach the belt/alternator from the cockpit access. After the steps have been removed there is an inspection panel to take out from behind the steps which gains access to the front of the engine compartment. The belt is under a further cover on the engine (health and safety) which when removed should give access to the belt. Hoping I will be able to manage keeping the belt properly tensioned whist tightening the alternator back up on my own........now where did I put that third arm

I'm planning to get down for around 09.00 although I might even go up tomorrow night depending on how I feel. Anytime you fancy coming down will be fine as I have some other jobs to do as well. Do you know the address for the new Marina ?
