Default "ER" showing on IPK display - Rover 75 Classic 2004

Hi,
Newby here so hope I get the format right.
My Dad has left me his car but its been sitting for months. Needless to say the battery is dead but I understand it was fine when parked up. I have tried jump leads but when I try to start it I get the usual clicking sound but also the code "ER" on the dash. I'm going to put it on charge over night but can anyone tell me if that ER is anything to worry about? I have read on here that to keep trying to start a car with a weak battery can do other damage and so am bit hesitant!
Thanks in advance. Oh - anything else I should check before starting it or indeed driving it if it starts?
Cheers

I would have a look in the plenum chamber, I suspect your ECM is wet.

EP stands for emergency programme (gearbox) and in this case would be caused by the engine management not talking to the gearbox over the CANBUS

Charge the battery fully and in the meantime do a search for plenum drains

Me too Ronnie, but I'm assuming the OP has an automatic, and misread [EP] as ER.

Unless there is a VIN mismatch between the IPK and LSM and Err is shown in the trip display
