Restoring the original mileage in EWS

Hello,

I messed up the mileage in EWS by connecting a used high-mileage IKE. This somehow changed the mileage in EWS, but not changed VIN.
However, if I put back the original IKE, but EWS mileage not restored to original value. Luckily the car unlocks and starts normally, but is it safe to drive like that?

Prior to the changes I backed up the original modules with TOAF and BMW Scanner, but unable to restore the EWS from backup, due to module being locked.
How do I unlock EWS for writing the mileage? Is there a known procedure that I can follow on my own without taking the EWS off and reprograming with external tool?

Any help is highly appreciated!

In my opinion, perfectly safe. My old V6 had modules from three different cars and ran without fault for 6 years.

What you can try is copying the VIN from the IKE to the EWS using Toaf's VIN tools. You can't change the IKE VIN easily as that's protected but I don't believe the EWS is (or someone will quickly correct me).

ps. Found an old post by BigRuss which said that the VIN is permanently locked in the EWS, if the car works then live with it.
