Cool Bird of prey v Pigeon

This happened right outside my window when a bird of prey took a pigeon down.

Yes, great photos Bob. My favourites are the first and second.

Is it a falcon perhaps? Any ornithologists on line?

I believe it is a Sparrow Hawk.

Yes, I've witnessed peregrine falcons taking pigeons a couple of times, it's a remarkable experience, I was almost as surprised as the pigeon!!

Thanks very much! After consulting the RSPB website it appears to be a female, known to hunt pigeons it seems.
