Spluttered to a start
The car fired up first turn as usual this morning then spluttered to a stop almost instantly. Took a little while to fire up again with my foot flat on the accelerator but it fired into life eventually with a degree of blue smoke before running clear. It staggered a bit so needed to keep the revs up.
I have started it twice again since with no issues  Any ideas FFS I think is not the issue as the car is 2001. Of course this all happens first thing on a Monday morning with a poorly cat in the car attempting our journey to the vets  never a good time and I really need to be in work with so much to do.Missed the vets appointment now sat waiting to go for a 10:00am slot and will take the fiesta just in case it fails to start and bring me home

If it was FFS leading to FOC territory then it wouldn't have started at all Phil.

Yes my thoughts too, experienced this with the 1.8 when it died on me through FFS

Been out a further twice and fired up no problems, maybe pulled a bit of dirt through or something. Anyway driving a dream as it should

My 190 did this after only owning the car a couple of months and it's never done it since.

Just a quick question; did you previously start it from cold but only run it for literally 1 or 2 minutes?
Because, and it's happened to me with other cars aswell, the 'over-fuel' either can get confused and can switch off prematurely the next time you start leading to fuel starvation or, because it only ran for a minute of so it has left the engine flooded and the next time you start it literally floods the engine with fuel because of the remains of the fuel that was left last time and now the cold 'over-fueling' again.... I think personally the latter because it behaves as if the engine is flooded, even sort of 'hunting' when it does start - anyway, that's my theory....
