Default could do with a bit of advice guys

hi guys new to the forum so go steady eh,ha ha problem is ive got a 1800 petrol classic 75 2000 plate , ive come across a wate leak on the rear of the engine ,as you look from the front its on the left hand side ,i think its the thermostat housing,can you tell me is it a seperate unit ,i mean can you splt it to get to the thermostat or is it a sealled unit ,if it can be split has it got a gasket or rubber o ring to seal it thanks up front for the advice guys .

Welcome to the club John.
Someone Will be along shortly that knows more about the Petrol engines.
On the Diesels you can change the thermostat on its own, long job though.
Make sure you keep that water level topped up because they can be prone to HGF.

The stat is enclosed in a unit that can be opened up to gain access to. Imo I would be looking at the inlet gasket if you have leaks at the back of the head or water pump if any stains are to the left hand side of the engine.

cheers mate ,am i looking at the thermostat in that position or is it the water pump , its only about 4 inches long and made of a hard plasticcy stuff with a pipe of same material comming of it ,under the injecter bank around to the front right hand side of the engine and i think to the bottom hose on the rad
