Default Instrument Pack and LCM Details

Came from a BMW book, but applies to the 75/ZT range

Makes a bit more sense when it comes to swapping bits around.

I mentioned that this might apply in the posts referring to auto lights, I am glad that you have confirmed this applies.
Should you have any queries please let me know.

noting point 6 above, would this mean swapping the Ipk for a used one and severing the link to the link to the lights give a working ipk?

Nope. Sorry.
The IPK upon failing to communicate with the LSM on our cars (from what I recall) will indicate the failure with the letters "Err" instead of the tip distance in the LCD segment display on the cluster. Also, any diagnostic work done on the car would show up ECU mis-matches. You also have the problem of if the donor car had a different setup to you car then the IPK may report warnings for systems not activated/fitted on your car (for example, traction control).

There is also the possibilty of transferring the higher mileage of the 2 control units and it being displayed in the instrument cluster.
