Hi Derek.
Car on ramps or axle stands remove the undertray, the sensor is mounted at front of the transmission bell housing, LH side of the engine, disconnect the wiring plug, unscrew the 8mm bolt and withdraw the sensor, clean the mating surface before re-fitting the new sensor.

Best pic I could find below.

Still got the same problem. Changed the crank sensor. Drive 200 yards and she stops again. Turn her off and back on again and she does another 200 yards and so on. Any ideas lads please. Gallon of petrol and match getting close at the moment

Thanks Simon I think you have hit the nail on the head. once the car stopped i tried to restart straight away but just would not start up. Turned the key off and back on to ignition and could hear the pump prime then it started. so tomorrow i will lift the pump out on the rns and see if it has come apart.

Many thanks for your help and advice

Dek

But to be honest its the end of the road for this Rover. I will be taking my private plate off and the new battery and tow bar to put on my other 75 alone with the crown wheels. Iv'e spent a fortune on this old girl but dont trust her anymore. Once she is stripped of what i want its off to the scrap yard.

Just to confirm Derek that's it's the filter (not the pump) on the left-hand (passenger) side of the car you need to look at.

I had the pump out today on the drivers side and that was ok.

We're interested in the filter module on the passenger side Derek.

Before taking any drastic action I recommend that you get hold of an "orange" clip and fit it to the filter module whether you think it needs it or not.

Or perhaps it's already been done

New seal eh? Hmmmm.

It's worth checking this I'd suggest, since the fault symptoms so closely resemble loss of fuel pressure.
