Default Noisy V6

My daughter's interested in a V6 but the engine sounds horrible https://youtu.be/QdSJ-5Q7Q9s Wondering if it's the typical upper manifold butterflies but have never experienced it myself - ideas please?

Regards

Certainly could be Mike, best way to be sure is remove power Vis and have a feel of the brown arm. only a 2 min job.

Always hard to tell from a video, but it sounds to me like there's more than one thing going on there: a rattle and a knock. The knock would worry me.

Thanks, always good to have more ears. The belts were done within the specified interval and hopefully the tensioner(s) which is all the information I've got.

You could try using a long screwdriver or simillar as a "stethoscope" which should help locate the noise.

If it's from the manifold it should be a reasonably straightforward fix with a good 2nd hand manifold, but if it's from the engine block, it's potentially £££s.

I did wonder about that as it's a terrible noise and very difficult to be certain from a video. A car from which to walk away isn't it Mike?

Seems so Simon as the seller refuses to let us even look at the power VIS arm without buying the car. Bit of a shame as it's in otherwise good condition and cheap, it'll probably end up at the breaker's as not many people here know the KV6 at all well.

Keep well

Bit short sighted of that seller or just, MAYBE, he's trying to hide something.

If the seller won't let you have a good look, I wouldn't walk away, I'd run!

Plenty more out there, so just be patient and you'll find the right car .
