So to test the water pump, do I just put the pump into the water container and open the tap?

Ok, this morning I seem to have got (nearly) everything working. Don't ask me how!
I disconnected everything, changed all the 10 amp fuses. So lights sockets and cold water work. The light is on from the water heater (green) and the heater is hot to the touch but there is not hot water coming through the taps

this and/or this They could give you some help in tracing the fault. The fact that you're getting cold water means that your pump is fine, so it would seem to me that one or other of your taps is not doing as it should. Bear in mind that when you open a tap, especially for the first time, there'll be loads of air in the system, so the tap will have to be left open for a while to allow that air to be purged.

Thank you for your reply.
I think the micro switch in the hot water tap in the kitchen is broken. Would this stop hot water making it to the other taps?

It shouldn't do - each tap has its own microswitch, so one not working shouldn't affect the other.

That's the problem then! I put the heater on before opening the tap!
How do I un trip the heater?

Turn your water heater off,and do as previous poster has said, open cold tap, wait til water flows freely . Do same with hot tap. Turn water heater on,and wait at least 10/15 mins before drawing hot water, it needs time to heat up ,it's mot instant like your house boiler can provide. After about 5 mins with the heater switched on, check the hot water tank with your hand, see if it's warming up. If it is, you're ok,if not check the fuse ,hopefully thus will be the answer, and you haven't burnt the heater element out through heating the tank dry.
