Evening all - peace and quiet now reigns supreme in the Thrower household. After EIGHT of us for a late Sunday lunch - during which a joint of pork, which I reckon was in fact about half a pig, was demolished - they've all gone home now. We also emptied a huge tureen full of bramble and apple crumble, gallons of coffee and tea, 12 mince pies and a packet of ginger biscuits

I fear we may have to go food shopping again tomorrow

Grandson is now 9 years old - no kid's plateful for him, he competes with my son who is no mean trencher, even down to 3 slices of dry bread to mop the gravy up

I have to admit that there were some pretty virulent home-grown onions in the sage & onion stuffing

I'm thinking of getting a dumb waiter installed

My excuse is I need to build up a good layer of blubber to repel the harsh, cold winds of a North Eastern Winter

Morning, she's getting me up earlier! Not a bad looking morning here, breezy but dry and mild.

Shoulder is giving me grief, I was cleaning up a Poppy accident last night and caught my shoulder on the kitchen door handle as I stood up! Poppy heard words that aren't part of her training!
