Its deffo head gasket its been overheating for a long while now and i only use it on very short trips eg to the shop and back as im a oap now but 4 days ago i tried to stsrt it and it wouldnt go so my local garage came and picked it up a few hours later i got a phone call saying the water is comimg out as fast as they put it in and its the head gasket what was gone and it wouldnt be worth repairing could u give me a rough value? Its pretty mint and has 102k on the clock

With the price of scrap the way it is about £200, double check the thermostat, I have never seen a head gasket fail on a V6 but I have seen lots of broken thermostats.

I've only had one, but heard of another. But My money is on the stat, like you Andy.

Chocolate and Teapot springs to mind (2 of my favourite things, however not in the same product)

Could the thermostat stop it from starting tho also would the garrage not have checked? And where could their be water coming from ,thanks for your help guys

It shouldn't have any effect on the starting, the water will be coming out of the thermostat housing or the pipework, its made of plastic and cracks over time, the trouble is it sits in the V of the engine and is difficult to see.
