Default How does this clip come off

looking at this thread

I need to remove a clip. I have copied a picture and it should be here as a thumb nail. Could you tell me how to remove it from the clutch pedal?

There were no signs of master cylinder leak a week ago but there is now

Put a flat bladed screwdriver in the side and twist to open the jaw while you slide the clip off if the pin

Don't lose it behind the carpet! ( or mix it up with the top clip as they are different sizes! ).

You need an 8mm 1/4 drive socket on a small ratchet to undo the front bolt. For the rear one, you need a deep offset 8mm ring spanner to get it moving, then I use the 8mm 1/4 drive socket (no ratchet) on the bolt head, and turn out it out by hand.

thanks. Even with I think a 1/4 drive the short extension is too long.
seems to hit something behind the centre console and the sharp edges on the clutch pedal don't help.
All the nuts and bolts under the car have come undone, only the hub nuts were a real problem but these tow bolts..... they beat me today.

as for bleeding the system........omg not looking forward to that. I will have to devise something. In fact I have something in front of me that may help. A motorcycle tyre valve that was screwed to the wheel rim.

I am not good in tight spaces and I have never seen a reservoir so difficult to access. Fair play to those that have done this job already, you have my respect.

Use a syringe and long tube to fill the reservoir.

Remove the pedal to improve access Ian, it will also give you the opportunity to clean and lubricate the pedal pivot bushes, and deburr the clevis pin on the pedal.

If you cut away slightly the sound deadening material above the cap area, it will make removal and installation of the cap much easier.

To remove the securing bolts, I use one of THESE, as an alternative method of attaching the easibleed to removing insulation from the bulkhead, is once the pushrod is unclipped from the pedal clevis, then remove the bolt nearest the back of the car, and rotating the master cylinder anticlockwise meaning there is ample space to remove and refit the cap.

Don't worry everyone who owns a manual, myself included has fun with this particular design "feature"

Brian is removing the clutch pedal a difficult job to remove and replace?
Just the thought of it I find worrying, worried I wont be able to put it back
but it sounds a good idea and my left hand will appreciate more space and no sharp bits digging in
