Thanks for the reassurances Mat, I am having to attend hospital several times every week, so I cannot stress enough the need for my car to be sorted.

Hello there,
It's no problem at all - finding a good, low mileage gearbox I trust is proving tricky, but I've got one on the way now. Just waiting for it to be brought to us. We'll make sure it's sorted. Glad you're doing better with your health - that's the most important thing! Either way, the car will be OK to drive until we get it apart.

I just had a slave fail about 2000 miles after replacement - the one that came out had rusted - there was a water leak off my FBH putting coolant straight into the top of the gearbox, and onto the pipes for the slave.
Not great, but let's see if the new one lasts a bit better. |

Oh ${extraordinarily_rude_word}!
I also have a metal slave fitted and now, just over a year and a half and about 10k miles later, it's become rather noisy. It's whining in tune with revs when the clutch is depressed and as there are no leaks I suppose it has to be the bearing. Can't be a coincidence that this started when the recent hot weather got its feet well under the table so it'll be good and dry. I have my fingers crossed that it'll quiet down again in the future, but...….
