Question DIY Clutch Slave CSC Renewal on 1.8T

Less than a thousand miles after fitting a new TAZU Metal Clutch Master Cylinder to my daily driver ZT-T 1.8T, the CSC Slave Cylinder let go. Fluid dripping from Bell Housing when trying to bleed. Obviously annoying particularly as I fitted a new LUK CSC Slave when I fitted the MG 6 engine. That was only a few thousand miles ago.

I have obtained another LUK CSC ~ that on Marinabrian's recommendation ~ and plan to DIYer fit that... taking my time. I'm using my 620ti and ZT Saloon meantime so no hurry. So now looking for Gearbox removal pointers.

So, considering my limited DIYer resources, before I get stuck in, any "how to" pointers from those who have removed a gearbox from a 1.8 Car will be greatly appreciated.

This I what I did on my CDTi, if it is any help:

I still have the Tazu metal slave in my car after 10,000 miles, but it is a little noisy at times, and the clutch is not as smooth and light as when I fitted it. I have a AP/Delphi slave in the shed as a possible replacement at some stage, when I have the time/inclination.

Good luck

Pete

When doing the clutch on my diesel to aid with gearbox assembly I used a strong piece of wood across the car and then used ratchet straps to take the weight, just jacked the gearbox up little by little whilst adjusting the straps, obviously there are other ways, but lacking resources this worked really well good luck.

What brand was the slave cylinder you fitted when the engine was put? Such a shame it’s only lasted a few thousand miles. Any idea why?
It seems common.
