Default Snowdon

We are at Beaumaris visiting the Castle. Tomorrow we will be walking up Snowdon via the Pyg track then coming down the Miners track hopefully it won't be too cold at the summit, we are well prepared so it should not be too bad.😓

Not quite snow there today, it's yesterday's hail frozen from about 1200 foot upwards. There's a cloud over the top at the mo, so can't see if it's had a fresh dose since morning.

Biting north-easterly blowing from the Beaumaris direction, so layer up!

I don't know if you intend parking at the PyG car park, but you would need to be there stupidly early to get a place.
If you're getting the bus up to PyG, some of the bus stops have been moved cos the High Street is closed for building a new bridge.

You can also expect it to be very busy on the hill - loads of people here for the Marathon and the non-runners going out for a walk, /and/ it's english half-term.

There was snow on the mountain tops in Snowdonia this morning (our neighbour at our cottage in North Wales sent us some pictures this morning). Forecast for tomorrow does not look too bad, but it will be cold and possibly a bit icy under foot first thing on some of the paths.

The car park charge at Pen-y-pass is now 10 pounds, however long you stay. We tend to avoid it if possible, and go up Snowdon by the Ranger or Rhyd-ddu paths from the west - much quieter and easier/cheaper parking. Have a great day - let us know how you get on.

Me and swmbo were up there last year, the Llanberis pass is a lovely drive. Our last night was in Llandudno, then drove all the way down to the valleys on A470.
Bit longer than A5 and M5 ,but well worth it.

Missed Pyg car park but managed to get in the layby on the pass, only cost a fiver each way for the 3 of us on the bus. We set off up the Pyg track at 08.30 it took us 3 hours 15 minutes including a snack stop we came down via the Miners path in 3hours including a snack stop . We had a really good day weather was perfect as were the views. Thats it for any big climbs till next year when we will start again in the lake district. Only ice was at the summit.
