Default Hunter Alignment Check

Good Morning

Wanted to get the alignment checked on all four wheels before a long run.

Google Hunter Alignment and only found one hit for Eastbourne. Quick call to get a price and the words 'having a giraffe' came to mind!!

Spoke to a friend and he put me in touch with Eastbourne Tyres (01323 720222). They're a small independent (the same family still owns it) who have been around since 1925.

The check was free. To align front wheels only was £45.00, to align front and back was £65.00.

As the tracking needed tweaking front and back I was there about an hour.

Added bonus was a few of the guys were ex Caffyn's so knew about the car and its foibles!!!

I have no association with them whatsoever but service was good, staff very friendly and I will be going back.

Cheers

Caffyns eh, it's about 8 years since they closed their art deco garage in Eastbourne.

I bought my backup T4 from their premises

Anyway congratulations on finding a good independent to do the job, and the real knowledge of the car and experience can be a lot better than having a computerised system making the decisions.

When I was an 18 year old living in Brighton and driving around in my first car after passing my test (a Morris Minor 1000), I used to pop into Caffyns regularly for spares parts. I remember my first breakdown in that car- the clutch link snapped (a threaded adjustable rod between the pedal and the clutch actuating arm - none of this hydraulic nonsense) - the new part cost 75p.

My dad bought a new Morris Marina 1.8 in Brooklands Green from them in 1976.

Happy days !

Pete
