So far the best ones are about £11 a pair delivered and gone well over 2 years service. So we can conclude with this great statement from the link below : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJHUbtR0yI8 |

Hi Derrick. Were they the OEM ones he sells or were they the Longbridge factory stock drop links he sells or had for sale, either way I would be looking to have a refund at least, just thought they must be the OEM ones as the longbridge ones he gives a 4yr warranty on.

If it is any consolation, I am having the same issue with MGB front drop links. I took a pair off the shelf to fit to my car the other day, and noticed the rubber boot was missing completely off one, and was very thin and flimsy on the other - these were supposedly quality parts supplied by the MG Owners Club. All MG parts suppliers seem to the same - they all sell ludicrously cheap links (as little as 8 pounds per link for the MGB- how can you make a quality part and sell it for that price ?). It is difficult to find true OEM quality parts for any car over 10 years old now, methinks.

Hmm. Mine are getting clattery again and I only replaced them last year. OEM-Q ones.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the reason the original ones last well and then any subsequently fitted ones die in months is down to the antiroll bar bushes being past their best and knocking the living wossaname out of them. I do seem to be replacing the damned things more and more frequently as time passes. This year I'm going to put another pair on along with a pair of bushes to see what happens.

My last set of Delphi drop links lasted over 4 years and over 40k miles before developing a slight play on one side. The current set from the same manufacturer has been on for over 2 years and 20k miles. Delphi provide a 3yr/36k mile warranty on their drop links.
Similarly, Meyle provide a 4-year warranty on their HD drop links for our cars. Given the general state of affairs and peoples' experiences with inferior products, why would you fit anything else? It's also worth considering how it is that a generic drop link of unknown origin can be warranted by a supplier(retailer) for 2 or 3 years. IMO the answer lies in buying cheap and accepting the loss on warranty claims in the case of a few customers who bother to make a claim. IMO only a warranty from the manufacturer is in any way indicative of the quality of the product. Last edited by MSS; 16th April 2019 at 15:40.. |

Recently Changed my originals for those Meyles ones.
Did put extra lube in them as even they didn't have much in The original OEM ones i took off are on their second set of boots, now perished , and I did regrease and reboot them at about 80k when the first ones split One link has a tiny amount of play and one has no play at all. Done 150k miles

I have a pair of the Mayle drop links waiting to go on mine, certainly look OK. I've had a few Mayle parts over the last few years and never had a problem with them. I tend to seek them out now when I need new parts.

I am considering fitting a pairof Meyle drop links after one of the new old stock Unipart ones I had fitted last august was an advisory on my MOT yesterday.
I fitted Meyle to the rear a few months ago and was impressed with how tough and well made they seem compared to others I have fitted to other cars in the last few years. The seem a lot chunkier too. The unipart drop links did seem well made but one has only lasted about 800 so they can't be that great. I was recommended Meyle by a friend who for some reason loves his BMWs, he and a lot his BMW owning friends won't fit anything else. If I were to want to get a bit more grease in the next set, is it just a case of lifting the boot a bit and squeezing it in and what's the best grease to use?

Best grease is Castrol CL grease. Read what it says on the tin.
