Sunny here, but too darned cold for my liking - we NEED rain. For almost a fortnight now, we've had a succession of major fires in the Guisborough Forest. For those of you who know the area, the affected stretches from the Eastern edge of the town out towards Slapewath. Many acres of trees have been decimated with heaven knows how much wildlife perishing.
Just heard the fire engines racing up the road now, another flare-up by the sound of things

Parts of Dartmoor have had fires. But at least we have rain to dampen things down.

It kept threatening to hoy it down Rich, but never actually did so. We had a couple of heavy showers, lasting only a few minutes, and some very black clouds - but none of the heavy stuff that was forecast.
Suspicion is that the fires were given some assistance to start in the first place
There was a story on similar fires on the moors near Bradford - as the Fire Brigade were damping down, people were lighting disposable BBQs for their picnic in front of them - where do we get them from?
