Default Tip for removing tourer roof strips

I removed the roof strips from under the roof bars of a tourer today as I wanted the plastic retaining clips. When I did mine a broke a few.

Once roof bar removed and its fixing bracket removed gently lift the rear of the strip enough to hold it but not bend it. Pull it backwards while at the same time, having a finger in the back bracket fixing hole and applying rearward pressure.

Wear leather gloves as the strip has sharp edges as my fingers found out but not one clip broke.

Edit to remove incorrect advice and add correct advice

sorry the strip and clips slide out of the channel. The clips can be slid of the strip by sliding them forward
