Post Four-wheel Alignment

Well after I have eaten my font Uniroyal RainSport 3 95Y XL tyres in only 11,000 miles I thought I would go and have a proper wheel alignment done on all 4 wheels

I have had the front alignment set twice in the life of the tyres but have fallen out with my local F1 Auto Centre as the customer service was rubbish, It was a grin and bear it to save £40 on the tyres, then off to Kwik-Fit for the Hunter Hawkeye four-wheel Alignment.

Ok Kwik-Fit aint cheap for the service but with a 2 year warranty I can go back as many times as I like to get them checked and realigned, so will save in the long run and I don't have to go back to F1 Auto centre so that's a win win

And with 2 new RainSport 3 on the front and all 4 wheels aligned it drives so smoooooth

Did they find the rears out of track at all? Most garages are frightened to adjust the rears on our cars.

Hi Trikey

I was called out of the waiting room and went under the ramps, The mechanic said "the rear bolts on the plates look a bit rusty and could break off!!!!"

I said "don't worry just go for it!!!"

They came loose no probs

And yes both Rear where out of line , but now all fixed

Good job. On our cars I believe the fuel tank has to be at least 3/4 full to get the rear aligned correctly so I’ve read.

Well done to their mechanic and thanks for sharing a garage that actually knows how to adjust correctly

My local Kwik-Fit told a fellow 75 owner that there was no means to adjust the rear wheel alignment on these cars, so it is a lottery whether you find a good outlet or an ignorant one !

It’s not as obvious as most cars

I had mine done a few weeks ago at a Motosave. I watched them do it, It was the rear end that was out really. I noticed it was wearing the rear near side tire in particular far more on the inside.

It certainly felt better afterwards. What I noticed most was the feeling that it freewheeled easier. This has to be good for fuel consumption!

Must get my rears done - they are both wearing more on the insides - around 2mm difference inner to outer. Is there a "How to" on this? (and don't say "Yes, take it to an alignment centre!"
