Default Changing front discs failure

Well, I've done this a few times before without issue, just never on a MGR car.

Whatever I tried I could not get the T50 screw that holds the disc in place to budge. Went to my garage for the plusgas and it was empty (thanks to 18yr old) so put some WD40 on it, left it 10 minutes, no difference. Heat I thought, went to us the little blowtorch I bought 12 years ago and have never used - doesn't work....Went to motorfactors and they didn't sell plusgas so bought a Holts equivalent. Tried that left on for 20 minutes, no difference. My T50 bit was starting to chew the screw a little so unpacked my kit from Lidl of allen and torx bits. First try with the T50 and the head shattered.

By now I was loosing light so had to put the car back together. The old pads I removed were falling to bits and very low so I've had to put the new pads on the old discs for now.

I'm thinking an impact driver would be the next step?

Any suggestions. This has made me think changing rear wheel bearings myself isn't for me

Small chisel on the edge of the Screw will shift it
Sometimes you need brute force to convince things

I give them a couple of good clumps with a blind punch and lump hammer before undoing them.

Drill it out Gordy, I’ve had a few stubborn ones over the years.

Still got my impact driver I bought back in the 1970’s - it was the only way to shift engine bolts on the Honda motorcycles I used to have.

Anyone else remember Pride and Clark in Stockwell London?

I bought a used Austin Allegro from them in the early 1980's - a lovely little car, even though it often comes in surveys as the worst car ever made !
