Default Screen Cleaner/treatment

Just got back from Asda and bought some of their screen cleaner/treatment. I gave the screen a quick spray and rub over with it and have been greatly impressed. The water just beads up and flows off the screen, so you hardly need to use the wipers. It was about £4 and money well spent IMHO. It has transformed my old, streaky screen in seconds! Will report back after using it after dark.

Was it the yellow rainx cleaner and treatment bottle? Its great stuff, i use it all the time on the side and rear windows. This stuff is better for the screen, lasts longer and water sheets off at lower speeds.

Yes, it was the Rainex in a yellow bottle. I've put some on the mirrors too and that also seems to be working well.

I have been using Rainex for years, since it came out. I believe it was developed during the NASA Space programmes. I clean the screen with a good screen cleaner, Autoglym. I have come back from Flint in Wales 100 miles from where I live, and it was hammering down with rain. I came nearly all the way home without using the wipers . It just runs down the window at slow speeds, and just runs up the windscreen and off at speeds above around 40 mph. Great stuff.

Question On the windscreen too?

You can use it on the windscreen as well?

I use rainX too perhaps not often enough it seems. Especially on a 75 saloon rear window (works brill) where Rover should have added a rear wiper!!

Obviously wrongly I always thought one could use it anywhere except the windscreen?

Given a further endorsement and a further reading of the bottle I'll might give it a go. No matter how well I clean my screen it's not long before the noise is back. Best cure of course is new rubbers but even then.....

Does it collect on the wiper rubbers, damage rubber? or anything like marking the coating layer where the wipers change direction and so creating those exasperating noises?

Rainex is great stuff. But the best add to front visibility in the rain, I have found, are the new Bosch wipers I bought from Halfords for about £30. My screen is terribly scratched and I've always suffered with a streaky screen. Not any more: the new wipers are silent in operation and wipe like a new screen. Highly recommend the Bosch wipers.
