In the old days bearings used to be fitted by torque setting then a quarter turn back, does that still apply now?

Can you see if the thrust washer is pressing into the seal on the front or touching the outer race...
Did the thrust washer come with the bearing?
I got some recently and they had no thrust washer included... the ones you bought may not require one...?

It is striking that you say it would not rotate before you put on the washer or nut!!

Did the bearing go onto the stub axel easily?
If it was forced on then this could have damaged it...

Did you feel them for turn before fitting??

Most unusual..

the bearings where got of the bay and where recommended by a member on here.but i am not saying anything until i get the result off my garage.my advice is to buy some of eurocar parts or unipart.if it does turn out to be the bearings i will of course imform members so that they can aviod the problems i have had
