Finally starting to find some enthusiasm for all things mechanical and have changed the front discs and pads with a bit of cleaning along the way and also discovered I need to to replace a drop link...
Rear brakes next, then off for mot - been on sorn for far too long ( hasn't been on the road since last September.. )

Fitted new air filter - what a palava! Couldnt get the back right allen bolt on the filter housing to bite and the back left is missing. Seems sturdy enough to me. My fingers are about to fall off but as the old filter was predominantly black I'm glad I soldiered through the sporadic snow blizzards

Cleaned the car inside with the vacuum cleaner
Now John is ready for the following working days

Hi Billy.
I presume you are referring to the diesel air filter cover, the allen key bolts should be captive, but I have know them to fall out a few times, so care must always be taken when removing the cover.

Also the channel can get damaged in the leading edge therefore stop the cover from seating properly which in turn makes it hard to make the bolts bite, the left rear must be done first nipped only then right rear again nipped only, once they have taken hold you can tighten them up, the rest are easy link below Arctic.
