75 leaks
Hi
I have a 75 saloon with no sunroof, but plenty of water in the drivers footwell. The car is parked on as downward slope nose first, as it is impossible to see to enter in reverse and I only get a good look at the sky on exit. So anyway as we were having a lot of rain I thought a cover might do the trick....alas no. I have seen several useful tips and before I remove the rear bumper and reseal the vents in the boot, can the water really enter at the back of the car and travel forward on one side, and why did the cover not work. Any ideas appreciated!! Brian the fishnut. |

Have you had a new clutch fitted recently? If so, check that the sealing grommet has been fitted correctly in the front bulkhead as this can allow water into the footwells.

Plenums always 1st port of call, also remember if the water is showing on the carpet then the foam underneath the carpet is saturated already, this means around 1 to 2 gallons of water under there.

Thanks for the answer, but I am a fishnut and don't have a clue what a plenum is apart from the fact that its part of the engine, can you give me a clue? Appreciate your time. Brian |

Do a search on here for " cleaning plenums" There's 3 0r 4 of them, an easy job but may save you a fortune.

Finding the leak is a pain but drying it all out is a bigger pain.
The best way i have found is using a wet vacuum cleaner first then leaving a dehumidifier on a suitable flat surface running in the car overnight etc.
