Default Size of Torx screw holding steering wheel airbag?

My sockets are too fat to get into the recess and undo the Torx screws holding the airbag to the steering wheel ... so I'll have to go and buy a screwdriver with a Torx head.

Can anyone advise what size of Torx head the screws have?

Cheers!

Oh aye - good thread. I only need to take the wheel off to move it round a spline or two to level it up.

Thanks. T30 it is, then.

I placed a spacer washer inside the socket for the torx bit which made the bit protrude out a bit more allowing removal. The barrel of socket is too large as the airbag has a slight taper on the inside stopping the torx bit engaging in the screw head.

I had to go out and buy a torx screwdriver just so i could remove my airbag as the holes in the back of it are only a wider than the screw and are also quite deep

I did exactly the same, saving myself the cost of a new tool

Are you sure the steering wheel is misaligned? If you haven't had the steering wheel off before, a mis-alignment suggests incorrect tracking.

Check that the knotches on the column and the wheel are in alignment.

Not exactly on thread, but I have had four different steering wheels on mine, and none of them was the same as regards alignment !
The original was OK, the other three were one or two splines out to be correct, so it isn't necessarily the tracking that is out.
