Hacked email accounts

For the second time in the last few weeks I have received an email from different members on here which is spam. Quite obviously they have been hacked....be aware folks...

If they are members on here and have sent you such emails, have you PM'd either of them querying this? Did they know these emails had been sent to you?

If you'd care to forward me the emails I'd be happy to look into it If you'd like.

I have been in touch with one member who confirmed his account had been hacked...the other one I do not have his forum name just his real name and appear to only have previous emails from the same account. I will PM you his real name and perhaps you could contact him via PM to let him know?

There's quite a few emails kicking around, which appear to come from a proper email account. However, they've not come from the account what appears on the email.

It's from a spambot, which uses that email address (usually harvested from social media sites) to send emails to people. You receive that email from what appears to be someone you know & open it.

Usually advertising pr0n sites!

Well this one had a list of other recipients on it....some of whom are also on this site..

Funny you should mention that.I've had one today from a member,so i knew the name,but there were other names on the forward list,which i didn't recognise,so didn't open.Did yours mention "mahogany"?

Presumably your 'send' folder is a bit fuller than it should be..?

Not always they send from a masked email that looks like yours when you look in your sent items there is no email there that you have sent.

Its more of a Hijack of your email address than your account.
