They should end benefits for the lazy work shy multiple child benefit scroungers.
There would be enough money in the pot to provide for the pensioners and the young that are willing to go out to work or stay on in education.

Yep, it really gets my goat when I see fit young people never working, spending their entire life living on the state. I and my generation just had to work, no other options.

Listen to the Sky News Paper Review last night.
They briefly ‘discussed’ this topic. Youngest Journalist made comment along the lines of ‘there is not a big enough pool of young people ‘paying taxes’ to support the needs of the older generation, who could need nursing care etc. WHEN I FULLY RETIRE IN A FEW YEARS TIME, I WILL STILL BE PAYING INCOME TAX, FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. A majority of ‘older people’ will be doing the same. This type of comment is nonsense. |

It is the system which attracts expenses fiddlers which needs reforming.

Dear me Me heart bleeds for them! I left school at 15 on the Friday and started work on the following Monday as an apprentice tool setter at the local engineering works on £3 10s 0d a week, I was getting 2 Quid a week from delivering newspapers and delivering meat from the butchers since I was twelve, If you wanted pocket money you had to earn it yourself. From what I've read some of them these days complain that they haven't had a gap year and they're stressed out There are droves of young late teens to mid twenties guys in my neck o the woods who have never had a job since leaving school, most if not all of them are sanctioned because they wont look for work yet the same people are in court for burglary time & time again. They seem to have no trouble in getting up in the early hours of the morning to do burglary/stealing cars. I'm sure if they can do that then they're fit enough to work. I'm not saying all the young people are like this but some of them seem to think they're entitled to a life without putting the effort in.

Both can be true. Perfectly possible to pay tax in retirement and there not be enough tax payers. |

I agree with that to a point, when I had 5 children at home, all under the age of 12 I would have been 30% a week better off by not working! Did I stop work and claim dole? Did I hell, I was brought up to work.
