Her sister picked her up last week to go out for a meal using her 16 reg Hyundai i20 and my wife never travels normally in any other car apart from our Rovers. When I picked her up in our 19 year old Connie , she remarked straight away how safe she feels in our cars ! Apart from her sisters jerky driving and over reacting on the brakes , she said shutting the doors and traveling was like being in an old biscuit tin with the tinny feel of the car ! I guess that's our cars safe for a few years yet ! |

We have just bought a new (Well, 1 year old) car for my wife that ended up costing $40,000.cdn after buying the extended warranty which covers the fancy electronic bits for seven years.
I have also just bought an excellent condition LHD 2003 ZT-T190 from Germany for the equivilant of $7000.cdn. The ZT should need nothing but I am allowing for belts and thermostat as a matter of course which should cost under $1000.cdn for parts and shipping. There is one fly in the ointment, that being shipping the car from Germany to the Pacific coast of Canada which comes to an eye-watering $10,000.cdn but in the end I will be all in for less than half what it cost for her similar sized modern technical marvel. I can't think of any modern car I could get for that amount that I would be happy with. I think it is a pretty good deal although it would be even better without that shipping bill!

I ought to mention that my wife views cars as a utility even though she's been with a petrol head for 20 years +.
She does now understand collector cars. I tried to convince her back in 1999 that an 80 grand Lamborghini Miura would be a good investment and look where they are now! She admits she was wrong on that one but she was right when she said we couldn't live in it so we bought a house instead..... I have however managed to buy a couple of cars which she occasionally tries to make me sell because "You hardly drive it". I don't think 4 cars is "too many" do you? |

I've ordered the uppers as well as the lowers as I figure doing them both at the same time will save both time and money in the long run.
Plus the car has less to fail on next years m.o.t.! |
