So far today, got the car out to fit my BMW wide-screen head unit, only to take it back out again as it is clearly a dud unit I have got

described as good working order off Ebay it clearly isn't, when I first plugged it in there was an intermittent 'whirr' coming from inside it, when I opened the door to get access to the cassette deck it then doesn't want to close, unless I unplugged it and reconnected. As I know these units are plug and play this strikes me as wrong for a start?

Bit of further investigation revealed a rattle inside, and a little white thing fell out. Looking inside the cassette deck and it's all bent inside with screwdriver marks on it and one of the drive wheels is missing and the other one intermittently spins, so this is what the noise is.

I'm going to email the seller and I want a refund on it.

After fitting my leather seats last September finally sorted out the non latching catch on one side.
After much investigatin worked out the "hook" was not far enough forwad to catch so two thick washers later sorted.
Fingers frozen though so cuppa time

Rear screen removed from the scrap car, went to remove the front screen and broke it, probably rushing due to being half frozen

Only half frozen? What you need is leg lag lad! (More of the Goons!)

Today I wondered who to trust for an honest assessment as to whether I should invest a load of money in my lovely looking but sick 75 Connie.

Hi John.
Whom did you decide on, or are you asking if members can suggest someone to you, what is the reg of your car, PM it or post it, so we can take a look at the MOT or do you know what it said on the last MOT and when is it due.

Almost tropical today, so went outside to polish all of my cars which don't live in garages. I usually do it on New Years Day, but this is the first day when they have not been sopping wet or frosty! Only did the upper halves as, whilst they have been started regularly, they have not moved for a few months, so sides are still pretty clean. Hope to do those later in the week. Made me feel much fitter and lively than for some time!

Thanks for your reply and advice on gear change. I seem a long way from recommended garages, so will have to trust my local guy who thinks my wallet is fatter than it actually is.

Purchased front and rear brake pads also front hand brake cable. MOT ends next week unfortunately next available date is 1st February so no hurry to fit them. Next is a pair of front wellingtons and alignment.
