Default Bonnet release broken on a facelift Tourer

Hi all,

Hope you’re all keeping warm on this chilly day!

The bonnet release in the cabin on my 2004 v6 failed about a week ago. I pulled the lever to pop her open and it snapped I assume. I can pull the lever but it is just loose now. I know that this is a pretty common issue.

I’ve searched the forums and YouTube and I’m still struggling to get it open. I’ve taken the flap out on the arch of the front drivers side and stuck my mits about inside but I’m not feeling the cable or box that holds it together or anything?

Is it different on a facelift? All of the advice and YouTube videos I have seen on the issue were on the mk1.

I will try and upload a photo of what I’m looking at shortly when I get to my computer.

Many thanks
Nick

You need to remove the top half of the washer bottle filler cap. Also much easier if you release the front section of the wheel arch liner, and get your hand in more and closer to the target. It is a tight squeeze but I've done this 3 times with my big hands.

Thanks Lee.

Think I've got to the cables, I can just about feel the box with one cable one side and two the other. Trouble is, I can't seem to move the box at all, it feels stuck in place.

Going to have another go tomorrow when it's stopped snowing and I can feel my hands again!

Yer tis, just in case you don't have the pic--------

PS. The box is meant to be fixed, it's the centre square block that you have to move.--It needs to be slid to the left in the pic I posted.
