Looks like I'll be treating me self to a 7ltr vacuum pump. Been researching on the forum and the net and that looks the best for me. The electric one would be too noisy for my liking.

I have had one of these for years, they are very good, but be careful if using it for removing fuel, if it gets in contact with the lid bung it swells up and you can't get it out!
Another bonus of this type is it is easy to dismantle and clean internally.

I always find the more tricky bit getting the oil filter off, the sump plug’s easy. As you should go underneath to change the filter, I don’t see an big advantage of these.

In my case, it will be used quite a lot & not just on our cars.

A lot of engines now have oil filter elements that are accessed from the top of the engine & even the M47R engine fitted to the R75 & ZT/ZT-T Diesel is accessed from the top, not underneath the vehicle.

On some Mercedes Benz engines (mainly Diesel), it is advised that the oil is not drained via the sump plug because they are prone to leaking afterwards, even with a new washer and/or new plug!
This advice came from main dealers (crazy I know).
