perhaps Red Rubber grease and brake fluid
I am reassembling my front brake caliper with new seals and new piston.
It comes with a sachet that looks to contain red rubber grease and says smear on seal and piston Even putting it on the lip of the piston, some will end up inside the caliper where the brake fluid is. Will this be ok or will the brake fluid react badly with what looks like red rubber grease? macafee2 |

I think I have found the answer on the internet
https://www.frentech-uk.co.uk/freque...0brake%20fluid. It says :- Red rubber grease is compatible with DOT3/4 and 5.1 brake fluids. No mineral oils or greases may be used in places that come into contact with brake fluid. macafee2 |

I used a combination of both, and smeared a thin layer of the grease on the surface of the piston in the hope to help with lubrication as the brake fluid deteriorates, as well as hopefully protecting from moisture. In reality I imagine it will dissolve eventually with the fluid though. Also.use the rubber grease onto the slider pins and their rubbers too remembering to replace their caps too. I never had an issue with mine, the seals just pressing into place. When I did them, they had been recently blasted and painted, so everything was very clean and smooth. Is the flange smooth and clean?
