SS Building
I used to work on the old SS production line.
But don't let me mislead you. There was a still 'photo of the SS production line which looked just like the Dunlop design office on Swallow Road, I worked there on aircraft ABS. I hear it's just houses now. It would have been less annoying without the 'music'. Pete |

Enjoyed the programme, but tinged with nostalgia and sadness. My old school used to arrange visits to car factories in the 1960s, and I went on every one I could. For some reason, Dagenham was not on the list!! Happy days.

Programme mentioned the Standard Light range introduced in 1934, my first car EMH995 was a 1936 Light 12 which my father had bought new!
It was known as Birdie because the original colour was Bluebird Blue, but after WWII my father has sprayed it Black. Agree that these programmes would be better without music, it distracts and sometimes drowns the commentary. I went to Dagenham works, fully integrated, made their own castings etc. |

What a brilliant programme. Wonderful characters too. Those early racing drivers were ultra-brave. Thanks for the prompt.
