Yep, know that and that's why I said it in the first post.

Next steps I would be taking are removing the glovebox to make sure the BCU hasn't been replaced with one that doesn't support remote boot release. If the correct BCU if fitted then a T4 session to confirm the ZCS coding. Seeing as it works from the button inside, and remote locking works, I would safely assume it is either incorrect BCU or incorrect coding.

Ah sorry, misread when you said 'keep pressing' as keep pressing rather than 'press and hold'.

This happened to mine after I connected toaf. I didnt change anything, but somehow it selected tailgate opening and trunk opening. Once the tailgate option was deflected, normal.service resumed.

Is it possible the previous owner has had it on toaf perhaps?

I have no idea I'm afraid but will look at the ideas I've been given.

Many thanks, and I've also got a different development. If I keep my finger on the unlock button the front drivers seat moves forward. It's a v8 with electric memory seats so I'm assuming a BCU problem as you've already hinted at. Did wonder why the seat was forward most of the time till I looked at it moving while I was pressing the unlock button

That was the function of the mk1 'hold the button' mode. They are programmable to the key.so a different key sets the seat to a different position. Lazy seats?

Since v8s never seemed to have fully developed,I would guess that all works as it should, and the remote boot release was never active. To reconfigure and activate it, I would suggest t4, and avoid toaf (because it is a v8).

Oh i'm keeping well clear of toaf, it may suit some but not my V8's. I will have to get in on to a T4 session at some point. Thanks

That sounds like it is probably just coding. The BCU can be set to either adjust the memory seat, or release the boot remotely. If you have Toaf plug it in and connect to the BCU, this will tell you the part number of the BCU that is fitted. If it ends in 1521 or 1522 then you need the ZCS codes altering to enable boot release.
